something on the horizon

A rare childress weekend for me, that is how it works.  The ex has the children 3 nights a week and it so happened that 2 of the 3 days/nights were Saturday and Sunday.  Rather than sulk about it I took the opportunity to do some things for myself.  Had a friend to visit which was nice to catch up, finally mowed the garden, did a few other odd jobs.  Also, cleared my tv planner!

Spent some time with my family too, some good news for them as they may be about to complete on their home.  Being as they have gone through a total nightmare with this house sale and chain, it was nice to see relief and smiles on their face.

What is strange though is that since my important meeting and the subsequent results from it, there are 3 potentials of money coming my way.  In effect, just waiting over the horizon ready to help me out.   What are these potential cash influxes?

1. My dad said he will be giving all of his kids a cash injection after the house sale.  This is not a given and I never feel that comfortable accepting money, but anything will help.

2. I was involved in a car accident in July, not a bad one so no need to worry, but enough to damage my right shoulder.  This has gone nowhere but oddly, since my meeting and the very next day in fact, I got a letter saying the 3rd party had admitted full liability.  Now I can receive some compensation.  Again, this is not something I have asked for nor faked injury.  Whatever the figure is, it will help.

3.  I qualify for a bonus at work as I have delivered all my targets, as confirmed over the weekend.  This is 20% of my wage (minus tax of course Mr HMRC), but a nice pot.   Again, this will definetly help.

I realise that I struggle to stay positive, but I do believe if you can somehow improve your situation it tends to open other doors.  This has happened many times.  If I am down, I stay down.  Nothing seems to help, but if I somehow improve my situation by a little bit it seems to allow other good luck to follow.   This may sound ridiculous, I am aware of that.  But, you have to admit the timing of the 3 potential cash injections is very odd bearing in mind that I have been living on pennies for months.

Any of those cash injections should clear the debt not included in the liquidation plan.  This SHOULD just leave me with personal debts and loans.   I am paying those though so importantly, no threatening letters or phone calls.

Not a bad weekend really.

Luck, coincidence or a sign of things to come?

Something’s in the air…I can smell it.   For the second time in a month I have walked outside my front door and found a five pound note on the pavement.  I mean, finding any money is a bonus, but the same value denomination in the same location twice in 4 weeks?  What am I looking at here, pure coincidence or the start of a lucky run?  Or…a higher power feeling sorry for me?

It’s strange though isn’t it, you pray for extra money to come your way.  I only every hope for money to pay off the debt and to make sure the kids have what they need.  I think it’s important not to be greedy if asking for help, and it’s not just these five pound notes.  I have also found other money has been appearing here and there, not great values but helpful all the same.

What this does is throw up whether the power of higher thought works?  Does appealing to whomever get the right attention?  I need to be clear though, I am not religious in any way but I do consider myself open-minded to the power of the universe.  Hell what do I have to lose, I won’t rule anything out!

The important thing, as previously written about, is to stay positive.  To believe things will change.  We all know life is not pre-planned, it is hard and brings moments that are tough to deal with.  I think that these moments are the counter balance to the happy joyous times.  It is how you deal with them that defines your strength and I believe being positive helps that.

Next time finding a fifty pound nice would be good though!

making money through luck and persistance

So how can you increase your cash flow, in times of crisis?  Well, as you can imagine I investigated every method possible from selling blood, to male escorting, to playing the lottery and so on.   Of all the things I tried, and had to use, to try and relieve my dire situation one has been quite successful.   Entering competitions..

I started doing this following a chance conversation with a friend of mine, who’s mother had made thousands of pounds from entering competitions and selling the prizes.  I scoffed, as many of us would, because “nobody every wins those things”.  Well, evidently they do!

Here is where I got lucky, I tried a couple of competitions and then amazingly won the first one I entered – a hamper of food.  Well………that saved me a week’s shopping money!   I then won more and more things, the first year I won so many kids toys the cupboards were full ready for Christmas.  I think in the first year of serious debt I saved a fortune of kids toys at Christmas, birthdays and other kids birthdays.  I also won some nice home appliances that I could either keep or sell.  In summary, it worked.

It’s hard work, hour every evening and dedication but what else did I have to do?  Remember I had been kicked out of my home on a ‘trial seperation’.  This was possibly the silver lining, I had so much time on my hands in the evenings and rather than sit there and worry about my marriage and money, I entered competitions.  Hundreds of them.

My most wins was 13 in a month, and the most I made from selling things was just over £1000.   Any amount went to pay off debts.  If I had no debt, my home would be full of the latest items, but they had to go.

It is a pity I wasn’t more dedicated.  Hardened ‘compers’ go the extra mile to win the best things, like cars.  They travel for miles for entry forms, get very creative in competitions that require hours, even weeks, of work.  I just didn’t have the gumption but really, it could win you a car.  Imagine that, a new car you could sell for £7-£10,000.  What a wedge of the debt to pay off!  I actually someone who won a car, by kissing it the longest.  They were allowed a 5 minute break every hour, she did it for 6 days flat.  Fair play, it was a nice car too, a Renault Clio I think, brand new.

I would recommend this though, entering competitions.  Why?  well…they are free to enter with 100% reward.  Yes you may rarely win, but occasionally you win a few at once and even more occasionally they are worth a fair bit of money.

Try it fellow debtors, it really works.
